30 years of Clarity

Our future

Clarity’s new Managing Director, Puiyee Chan, explains how she plans to build on the achievements of the last 30 years.

Our journey

1992: The journey begins

ClarityEnglish was founded in Malaysia by Andrew Stokes and Adrian Raper.

2003: British Council adopts Clarity programs

The British Council adopted four Clarity programs to be installed in all 227 teaching centres worldwide.

2009: Clarity in Ethiopia

Clarity set up projects to support universities in Ethiopia, starting in Aksum and Mekele.

Our founders

When we started ClarityEnglish 30 years ago, a founding philosophy was that technology and teaching would be balanced, each driving and supporting the other. It probably helped that in the early days the ‘teams’ were just two people: Andrew (a teacher) and Adrian (a programmer).

Our partners

ClarityPartners: Specialists

ClarityPartners: Studio sessions

Happy Birthday!

I know good stuff when I see it: Tense Buster is/was a gem. Thank goodness all online now as the computer admins always used to lose the floppy disks and then CDs. And yes, I remember when Windows NT came out in 1999, you gave me a free update which shows the benefit of good service🤣
Now I’ve moved to Director of International Students, and we are still using Tense Buster, and also Active Reading and the Dynamic PlacementTest.
All the best for the next 30 years!
